An adult squirrel can weigh 400-600g.
The most common squirrel in the U.K is the Grey Squirrel. They have grey fur with rust coloured hair scattered throughout their coat. They are considerably larger than the Red Squirrel with a robust build and they sit with their large tails arched over their backs. The Grey Squirrel is widespread throughout the U.K and Wales and are not protected so are considered a pest.
The squirrels are active throughout the day starting early before sunrise until sunset. Their peak of activity is in the Autumn.
Squirrels are considered a pest as they can cause much damage to the householders loft. They are quite destructive rodents and once they have found their way into the loft they will cause damage to insulation and timbers. As with rats and mice they continuously gnaw to file their front teeth. They are also known to cause major potential fire risks by stripping the insulation from electric cables. They will also cause damage to gardens by digging holes to burry their food. They will either make their dreys (nests) in the garden, usually in a tree or in the loft.
At M Pest Control we offer a range of treatments including trapping to get rid of these rodents.
